Making Money through Content Writing

How it works

There are plenty of sites out there offering you some good money if you are willing to put in some time and contribute articles to their sites. Associated Content is one of the largest of these sites, paying between $3 and $40 per article that you submit. If you write well enough, and often enough, this can be an excellent way for you to make some money and promote your website or products at the same time. Associated Content is one of the very best ways to make money online.

Once you sign up at Associated Content, you need to get some articles written. They will accept any article, short story or review for their site as long as it is 400 words of more. They also accept Video submissions, though these are generally much more difficult to create, and since they pay the same, I do not recommend it. Audio submissions do not currently pay, so I avoid these.

Beginning Writing

If you need some suggestions, you can look on their website, or get some inspiration by writing simple guides about things that you already know a lot about. Because I am interested in gambling, I wrote a lot of my initial articles for Associated Content about how to be better at Poker and Horse Racing. The more you write about things you enjoy, the more you’ll be willing to write. A lot of people find this to be a painful method of making money because they only write scholarly articles and do serious research on topics. If you keep it fun, you won’t have any hang ups.

Once you get these articles written you need to put them up for review. Within about 5-7 business days you will receive notification of a bid on your article. If you get a bid, it will probably be towards the low end on a lot of your initial articles (though occasionally you can get surprised: my first six articles all went for more than $7 each!). If you feel that your articles are worth more, you can reject some of the lower bids, and rework your article a bit, expand it and add more keywords in hopes of resubmitting and getting a higher bid. For beginners, however, you should probably accept any bids you get so that you can get some articles out there, work up your clout, and build a solid readership base.

Pay-per-view

A new Associated Content policy gives you a small bonus based on the number of visits your articles get. Since Associated Content doesn't update their page views very often, you'll make your money in surges, but the additional payout is rather nice. Now, you're not only getting paid when you first write your article, but now you're also getting paid a few months down the line when your articles are shown.

To get page views you need to promote. The very best promotion methods are discussed in detail in the Green Machine Guide to Higher Earnings, but if you write about writing, then I've got something for you. Here at the Green Machine, we've just launched a new side-project website at www.the-write-stuff.info. This site is great for all of you guys to promote your content on AC for free. We'll post any articles you write that deal with writing or promotion.

Writing Articles Faster

Ready to make more money? Here's what you have to do: Get Article Architect. It's a $50 piece of software that will help you do research and pump out articles faster than you can possibly imagine. Good ones too. It eliminates all the hassles of writing articles, does lots of research so that you can analyze what should go and what should stay, and can help you find new topics to write about. It organizes and categorizes your articles for you, and makes sure that you are making money with your articles.

Does this sound too good to be true? Sorry, I really hate having to be sales-ey on something, especially on something that I'm not making money on, but seriously, if you want to make money with Associated Content then you need to get this software.

I've got a tutorial that you should check out here if you're still on the fence.
